🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯 Okay , so I cheated a little & copy/ pasted John's Facebook post in case some of you still only access this blog but now I have a school update to share. Four weeks in & a first progress report on how the students are faring . I am so excited, proud & happy to share with you all that Jordan came home with an A/B report!!!! . I know it is only the 3 subjects right now but this is definitely a big step in the right direction for his recovery. It makes us optimistic we will be able to add a little more to Jordans curriculum in the not too distant future. Therapy continues to bring about small victories - like Jordan manipulating a piece of construction paper while cutting out a shape drawn on it or coordinating swinging himself with only the strength of his left arm while keeping squared off to the front. This morning we experienced something new... Sunday is the one day we don't actively wake Jordan. It is his day to sleep in & basically chill out. His normal time to wake up has been anywhere from 10- 10:45. Today , however, as John , Tara & myself were in the midst of our own morning rituals, out wandered Jordan ..... Wait for it ..... At 8:30!!!! WHAT??!!?!?! We don't know if the treatments we've started in the hyperbaric chamber had something to do with this but again we are hopeful that our gut instinct is going to prove helpful to Jordan, we shall definitely be monitoring him closely for any changes in energy , alertness etc. 🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯 After exhaustive research for any type of natural healing method we came up with two options we are going to try. This one is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. The thoery behind it is to be taken to 1.5 to 1.8 from normal atmosphere while emersed in 100% oxygen. If I were to breath 100% oxygen outside the chamber I would most likely get oxygen poisoning. There are a whole host of problems with that. However, Being at 1.5 atmosphere, which is comperable to being under 20 feet of water, it prevents the oxygen from attaching to the red blood cells but instead stays in the plasma for a heart beat or two. It then gets pushed by that preasure into all the tissues, Including the damaged tissue wherever it may be. It is FDA approved for severe burns, skin disorders and some stroke situations, but not for Traumatic Brain Injuries. All that means is that insurance doesn't cover it. We have researched a few TBI patients who have gone through this and had positive results. Some very positive. The dangers are the same for anyone entering the chamber even me which are ruptured ear drum if you can't equalize or seizures. Jordan is already on an anti-seizure med temporarily because of the accident so thats covered and the ear drum we simply had to put him in to see if he could equalize. This is a picture of him in the hyperbaric chamber on his2nd session. We'll keep you posted on any results. 🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯 Here we are " Hump Day" on week 3 of school. Class routines are starting to fall into place & homework is beginning to come ...... Well, home. Jordan , so far , is keeping up with his modified schedule & although gets really tired , still has his fighting spirit & it takes a lot before he concedes to not being able to complete. Three days a week we continue with traditional physical , occupational & speech therapy & on the off days from that , when time & energy permits, Jordan & I do "Mommy therapy". Into the studio we disappear for 40- 60 mins or just take that time to do stretching while chilling in front of the tv. Thank goodness he has not fired me as trainer yet !! I actually think he enjoys it - makes me feel a" little" special, I confess 😊 This week is hectic with a barrage of doctors' follow ups & more consultations to further Jordan's progress during what is still considered the critical recovery stage ... The more we can regain early on the better the outcome another 9-15 months in the future. There are days when we feel like progress has halted & then we get a moment like the one below , when " lefty" shows us there is plenty going on ..... Made my heart smile to see & see Jordan's sense of accomplishment. Thanks to the wonderful team at Children's Therapy Center!! 🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯🐯 An intimate outing with some school buddies was just the therapy Jordan needed after his first week back at school! With his modified schedule it is difficult to get a lot of the social side of school, so it was fun to see him interacting in a "controlled chaos". Definitely wore him out, however, so has given us a base line of how much stimulation he can currently endure. We shall build from here on... A three day week coming up, with I dare say a slightly heavier homework load, will also permit us to see capacity for increased mental stimulation. Honestly, this is one big blank book for us to fill in a day at a time & we are not exactly sure what to expect , how , when or why..... For today , at least , we were thrilled to see Jordan experiencing a normal activity with his peers: eating , drinking & making wise cracks about his Dad's bowling!! Thanks to all who were present. You're a great Cheer Squad ☺️💜 |

Jordan's StoryFrom John, Melissa & Tara Juliano
Hello everyone, We wanted to include all of our friends in this trying time for our family. Last night, Saturday May 17th at about 5:40pm Jordan fell and received a severe head injury. All three of us heard it happen but none of us saw it. As best as we can summize Jordan was running into the bathroom and went to stop on the tile and his feet slipped out from under him which caused his head to hit very hard on the tile floor. He was responsive at first but after some questioning we realized he needed more advanced care and called 911. HFD arrived within 2 to 3 minutes and we were on our way to St. Rose after 7 total minutes from the call. It seemed painfully longer. Soon after we set of in the ambulance the Paramedic diverted out destination to Sunrise Hospital Childrens Center. If jordan had any hope of a return to the normal boy we know and love that decision was the best decision in a string of great care thet Jordan has received. On the way Jordan's condition gradually became worse. We arrived at Sunrise Hospital Trauma and they wheeled him right in with me following. I answered as many question as I could as they worked on him. They soon asked me to step out to the waiting room. Soon after that the Neurosurgon found us and gave us the situation plainly and clearly. Jordan was very sick and they needed to work aggressively to save his life. The hardest part was hearing that he might not make it through the surgery. . . .We signed te papers and walked with beside his bed to the O.R. We were all allowed tt give him a kiss and then we were walked to the waiting lounge. That was the longest and worst 3 hours of our lives. Tara had many questions and because she had been witness to all the events leading up to now we decided to talk plainly and openly as to the possible results. The Doctor finally came out and said Jordan was doing as fine as he could. His vitals were strong throughout the surgery and when she visualized his brain it looked good but that was only seeing it. there is much more within the brain. We were finally allowed back into the room and saw that Jordan was heavily sedated and was being give blood preaure meds, antibiotics, sedatives, Saline, on a ventilator to breath for him, etc. He has a long road ahead of him. We soon found out children were not allowed to stay over night so Melissa took Tara home and I stayed with Jordan for the first night. All was fine through the first night. In the morning he started to show a higher brain pressure and started to get rid of more fluid (urine) than normal. They took him for another CAT scan and when the doctor came back she was ver pleased with how it looks. We're not quite out of the woods yet, we have another hurdle to overcome. They need to take another CAT scan tomorrow (Monday) morning because the signs of a stroke do not show up until after 24 hours has passed. His reaction to stimulus is positive. When they rub his chest he responds as they feel he should. When they wiggle the IV in his arm he moves that arm slightly. He has gaged at the airtube helping him breath. These are all small but positive signs. This is where we are at currently. I will try and update this as soon as we have any new info to add. The hospital Jordan is staying in is on lower right but we are not in the system yet because we are still listed as a trauma. As soon as we get a real room and not an ICU bed I will update the info. Lastly, If you have received the invatation to this site we consider you firends who even though we may not see you all the time we think of you often. Could you please send out the biggest amount of positive thoughts and/or prayers for Jordan. I know he feels it. We sure do. Love John, Melissa, JORDAN & Tara. Help JordanPlease help us help Jordan and his family after Jordan suffered a terrible brain injury after a fall in his home.On Saturday, May 17th, Jordan Juliano suffered a terrible brain injury after an accidental fall in his home. Jordan is an amazing young man who is in great need of our community's generosity. Jordan is a competitive gymnast, terrific student, and all around amazing young man. His family is faced with the mounting medical bills associated with his treatment. Their insurance will cover some of it but not all it. Jordan will require specialized treatment at an out-of-state facility. The costs of this treatment are staggering and any help and assistance is deeply appreciated.
