It's been a few weeks since my last entry. I wanted to wait to see where the latest chapter of Jordan 's new brace would settle.....
Thankfully, I have some very positive results to pass along. After a further 2 weeks of being in a wheelchair ,adjusting to the fit of the brace, Jordan began moving around on his own, without any pain or pressure. .We were able to wean him off the Advil for his school day and the last week before Spring Break Jordan was able to walk into the school, once we parked, between each of his classes and out to me at the end of the day..
His posture is looking a lot better, more square through his shoulder girdle and his left hip and heel are down.
Last week, during therapy, he was able to recall all 5 titles of the books he has read since the beginning of the school year.... this definitely would not have been possible back in October. These are the baby steps we celebrate wholeheartedly.
Unilateral balance ,too, is beginning to return - holding an easy count of 10 seconds on his right leg and 3-5 on his left... we are also building up time, once again, on the elliptical. During the serial casting and initial bracing we were unable to incorporate that so stamina has decreased and we are starting over.... but with high spirits.
This past Saturday my heart smiled so pure with joy as I watched over a scene of Tara and Jordan playing a game of Ker Plunk .A) because Jordan didn't have his earplugs in. (In fact, it had been his idea to buy the game to help his ears get used to the noise of the marbles) and B) to hear the
giggles coming from the two of them, reminiscint of times prior to the accident when they were so compatible and could entertain each other for hours... These are the moments to treasure...
I look forward to posting more milestones in the coming weeks. I feel we are back on track for Jordan's recovery and it feels pretty darn good.
As always, Thank You to everyone for your continued support.
